That is ridiculous. It's not the ref's job to determine when a team is being
dominated. Just call the game the same way and use the same rules throughout the game. Any time a ref goes outside of that in any way (whether a team is up big or not, whether an athlete is a star or not, or whatever it may be...), it will cause problems and fans will be upset.

Yeah, you don't stop being a referee just because one team is up big. An obvious foul is still a foul.
