on the football schedule. There's a reason that the Utah series is scheduled through 2028, the Boise series is scheduled through 2034, and the USU series is scheduled only through 2022. The two schools have been unable to agree on dates... even before the Pandemic, it was unlikely that we played USU in 2023.
As for the current agreement:
- 2019 - Logan
- 2020 - Provo
- 2021 - Logan
- 2022 - Provo
USU can't change the location of their 2021 home game, or else they are left with only 5 home games. They also can't play in Provo in 2023 for the same reason, they already have two road games scheduled for 2023 (they also balk at the idea of playing at BYU two years in a row). As a result, the 2020 BYU home game might be re-scheduled for 2024, with a new series starting in 2025... but the new series would start in Logan.
Bottom line: I would be shocked to see us play USU in 2023.
Also, keep in mind, Utah's AD has said they do not expect to be able to re-schedule the BYU-Utah game @ Rice-Eccles. The current agreement ends @ Utah in 2028 and BYU will not play @ Utah two years in a row. So it's simply a lost game. The same could happen with our game against USU.
