Jarom Jordan has got to be the biggest cry baby... you know the kid that shows
up with the basketball and when his team loses runs home crying with the ball so nobody else can play.

His constant whining of the schedule being to hard is proof.

What he forgets is players (true athletes) want to play the best competition. As I visit with players many mention they chose BYU because they can play a P5 schedule and be on tv weekly. If BYU was to play this schedule (2020) with a few P5s, I doubt BYU would have the same quality roster it has today.

Winning is fun, I get it. I love winning more than anyone (in my mind). But as a former athlete, I loved playing the best every week. I chose in grade school and high school to play up, competing against players two to three years older than myself. Defeating a weaker team was just another day. Defeating or even losing to a better team was more rewarding (if I kept the game close in a loss). The learning curve and personal growth comes through challenging ourselves. I earned respect from my peers by not shying away from playing better and older competitors.

Additionally, if all conferences had started at the same time this year, BYU would not be ranked #11, but would be ranked possibly near the bottom of the top 25. As the other conferences get started in full gear, BYU is likely to drop.

Despite possibly going undefeated, BYU has a good chance of going to a non New Year six due to the schedule’s strength or lack their of. I understand. Today, jordan once again showed fear of adding another team (risk vs reward). Thinking BYU might need another team he spoke of G5 schools and the risk involved. If BYU cannot play and defeat the top G5 school or upper tier P5 schools, they don’t deserve a New Year Six!

Getting top talent means playing top talent - P5s and getting recognition for invites to top bowls comes through winning top teams.

As an athlete I would rather earn a playoff spot by being the best vs. handed to me playing weaker competition. Playing 1 to 3 P5s is not good enough. If you want to be the best then play the best. The schedules Tom has and continues to build is what draws attention from recruits, tv, fans and donors like myself.

Grow-up and put on your big boy pants or just stay home with your basketball playing the neighbor kids, who are three years younger.
