One thing to consider re: easier schedules is how that might affect recruiting.
A lot of BYU players have said that the opportunity to play big time programs was one of the factors that brought them to BYU. If the schedule were dumbed down on a regular basis, would that hurt recruiting at all? This year's team was built to play a bunch of P5 teams but ended up playing a bunch of G5. Over time, would the depth that this team has still exist? I don't know enough to answer myself.
