Netflix rarely puts out something so good. It isn't action and it is definitely a slow burn, but it is smart and introspective. It refuses to overly demonize or over simplify. Even characters that seem to be prototypical villains like the mean, cocky male rival to the heroine rise out of caricature and show redeeming qualities. Even the more sympathetic characters have flaws. However, these glimpses of goodness and badness aren't 180 turns like in so many shows. They are teetering balance acts, like real people. I am thoroughly enjoying it.
Warning, it is a slow, slow burn and I don't know what happens after episode 2.
