They’re a big enough brand with enough alumni base to succeed. Surely ESPN would do for Nebraska what it does for BYU with scheduling and TV.
I don’t see the B12 wanting to dilute their revenue and add one or two more teams at this point.
Maybe a better scenario for BYU would be for a few more big name schools to give independence a try prior to the impending shakeup in 2024/25. USC, Texas, or maybe the AZ schools? At least a few of the Pac12 teams have to be livid over their conference’s completely incompetent management.
Camping out in independence and waiting for conference realignment would be an even more valid approach if more teams were doing it. Imagine adding Nebraska, ASU and Arizona to our annual lineup of local rivals Utah, BSU, and USU. BYU would finally be able to shift some of the tougher games in October and November.
At any rate it would be pure comedy to watch the PAC12 in an apocalyptic meltdown after two or three schools bolt.
I wonder if independence is something Nebraska is considering right about now.
