BYU must have 6 home games each season. This is normally done with Home and Home arrangements. However, many of the top programs in college football will not agree to a home and home with BYU. The only was BYU can play them is:
1) and one time neutral site (or away) game.
or
2) a 2 for 1 deal where BYU gets 1 home game and the opponents gets two.
Some of BYU's biggest win were made possible only because BYU was able to schedule FCS opponents to get to 6 home games. Lets take a look at some of them:
1) BYU's 2019 win over a ranked USC (2 for 1).
2) BYU's 2018 win over then #6 Wisconsin (2 for 1).
3) BYU's 2016 last second win over Nebraska (One and done).
4) BYU's 2009 win over then #3 Oklahoma (Neutral Site).
Would you rally rather play Wyoming and Middle Tennessee over Oklahoma and Northern Alabama? By giving up the option of playing FCS opponents, that is the type of trade that you would be making.
