The church wouldn’t need to pump “billions“ into BYU Athletics.
BYU Athletics has been self sustaining for decades. It would just need a little bit more to upgrade facilities and ensure that we can keep our coaches around.
In a world where the church and it’s members are increasingly viewed as fringe, financially supporting one of the few things that normalizes public perception of Mormonism makes a lot of sense.
