I agree with most of what you said, except for the "leap frog" part
Based on AP rankings, it would generally be unlikely that some teams would leap frog us. However, if we come in at 10 or 12 or 14 in the CFP rankings, then it's not unreasonable for any team in the top 20 to have a chance to leap frog us. In the end, there will be about 7 teams fighting for the last 3 spots in the NY6 and we are one of them.

BYU needs to be at #9 in the final poll to be guaranteed a NY6 spot. No #9 team has ever been left out of a NY6.
