I'm so tired of today's idea that protecting your source is more important than having news that is dependable and fair.

If there is a source that "leaked" the details on the BYU UW fiasco, he should be fired. Either that or he should step up and say "I was involved and this is what was said".

But to allow anonymous sources on things like this, with no way to prove otherwise, and with no repercussions for slander, etc, is just asinine. It creates the chaos and horribly unfair situation we just went through as BYU fans, and even worse, the players, coaches, and school.

I would hope that people like Mandel and others would request their source to "go on the record" more often. There are times to protect a source, but this is just irresponsible, sensational reporting.
