Once again, BYU gets the shaft because we are not P5, not in a conference. Only a lowly disrespected independent. So the excuse is we haven't played a strong enough schedule. BYU supposedly needs another game or two against stronger competition. Well just where are we supposed to get those games? We can't play games where the odds are heavily stacked against us, it needs to be a level playing field.

Plenty of teams ranked higher also should have another game, or two games or even three or four or more games to justify their ranking. The more games a team plays, the more likely they will lose a game. Some of the higher ranked teams have already lost two games. What if they play as many games as BYU, maybe they will lose more games.

It's been extremely difficult for Holmoe to get the games scheduled that we have played. It was a Herculean effort, unmatched by any other team. The whole point is that we have played 9 games and won them all and won by convincing margins. We demonstrated a dynamic, high-scoring offense that obviously could score against anyone. We have great players on both offense and defense. Our defense held teams to low scores and they would match up well against anyone we play.

BYU should have got a 7 to 8 ranking. Any reasonable intelligent person would put us right there with Cincinnati. There is no justification for ranking BYU so low. It's unfair and unreasonable and most football analysts would have to agree. Many have stated as much.

It's a lot to ask to convince any very good team to play BYU at this point when it's obvious that beating BYU is not going to be an easy task. A high ranked team has everything to lose by playing BYU at this point. Holmoe says there are teams he can schedule so maybe he'll pick a couple and do the best he can to get good teams. But the same pressure should be put on the rest of the highly ranked teams. They all need to play, and win, more games as well to hang onto that ranking.

Let's make this thing fair and honest and recognize what the BYU team has accomplished to date against overwhelming odds. Certainly, let's not make excuses for this travesty of justice by sticking it to BYU and favoring the undeserving teams that were ranked higher.
