Let’s not forget the fact the BCS and now the CFP were created to stop
another BYU or G5 from winning a National championship. Additionally, they were created to control the cash box.

In order to not look like the bad guys or a monopoly they established a path for one (1) non-P5 to sit at the table and a kiddies table so all bowls can be filled. However, the non-P5 is to sit quietly realizing they will never sit near the head of the table. Those four seats are reserved for the-statesmen only.

Cincinnati is the recognized non-P5 (child) with a clear path to sit at the table, this year. Adding a 2nd non-P5 is unacceptable and by the bylaws does not have a path to receive an invitation.

Providing another non-P5 with an invitation would mean less turkey and stuffing for the adults at the table and less monies. Heaven forbid the two (non-P5’s) would want extra helpings.

BYU not being a P5 or a G5 has no real path to receive an invitation. Despite what BYU has done to this point, their schedule is not enough to persuade those holding the golden invitation to give one to BYU.

What is truly sad: BYU would be the champions if the Big12 and could possibly be the pac 10.5 champion (Oregon being an unknown at this time). That was not my opinion but my friend’s, who works for the Big12.

He also reminded me of BYU not having a contractual path to the NY6 table. The only current path is public outcry. Voters have placed a few teams with two losses ahead of BYU. Realistically, there will be one or two more teams with two losses added to that list ahead of BYU as the top six or seven cannibalize each other.

Can BYU end up in the top 12 and by a miracle find a golden invitation in the mail, yes. But chances are slimmer than seeing a cow jump over the moon. And with financial shortfalls, the keys to cash box have tighter than ever grips on them.
