For BYU to get the green light. The P5 powers that be don't want BYU to get a seat at the NY6 table. Not because they're Mormon, not because they're hard to work with, and not because of the Max Hall curse... It's because of money... The NY6 is designed to keep money in the P5 schools. They're contractually obligated to share a piece of that pie with one G5 school... BYU doesn't qualify for that spot. So giving them a spot in a NY6 bowl game does nothing but take money out of the P5's coffers. They will do EVERYTHING they can to keep BYU on the outside looking in, which is exactly what they did. #14, despite being #8/9 in every other major poll in the country. It's the downside of Independence...
