BYU won’t make it into the top 12 CFP rankings this year. The fact that the committee put us 14th and every single sports pundit said it was basically a crime shows something else is going on.
The P5’s are nice enough to give one spot to G5 conf champion...THEY ARE NOT GIVING TWO AWAY - especially in a year they are losing so much money.
Look at the back end of the top 12. They had to put at least one Big12 school in there, so they squeezed in OU at 11. For safety, if OU falls, they have Iowa St with 2 loses, one to a Sunbelt conf team, in front of us to take up the slack.

They are keeping ALL the money from the 11 of 12 spots.

As an Indy school in a normal year we will never be able to make a playoff and most likely a NY6. However, I’d still rather play 6 P5’s throughout the year than be in the AAC playing for a shot at one P5 in a bowl game.
Tough deal for BYU - stay the course til 2024 and see what shakes out with conference realignment, again!
