I don’t know that it matters.
I see photo gear a lot like college. Get into the best college you can because theoretically that makes things easier, but it doesn’t guarantee anything.
I think you should always get the best equipment you can afford. In fact, maybe a little better than you can afford. It makes photography much easier. That being said, you get what you get and then learn to shoot whatever you get. I know a guy who is good enough at photography that he sells his work as prints. He’s a genius. But his camera is from (iirc) 2011. He just understands exactly his camera’s limitations.
So get the best camera you can, and then learn it inside and out.
Unhelpful, I know, but it’s also the truest thing I know about photography.
