football season on the fly without the restrictions of a conference and then it took away flexibility when trying to schedule games with teams in a conference once those conferences started playing.

Understandably, conferences are going to look out for the best interest of their teams (except the MWC when BYU was a member) and no one is looking to help BYU unless it helps them more.

On balance, I am still glad BYU was an independent this year given the circumstances. The only thing better would have been to be in the Big12 but we all know how that turned out 🙂
