...this very discussion came up and it was suggested that the committee will likely move BYU up, but if it doesn't the Bowl sponsors have a say in the at large bid, which means the TV partners have a say in tg he at large bid, and thus, BYU vs a PAC/B1G opponent in the Cotton or Fiesta Bowl is possible. So duh! Only the top six spots are guaranteed. At large truly means at large. Bowl tie ins are superseded by Playoff Berths. If the PAC and B12 are out of the playoffs, and their Bowl tied are playoff births (Rose Bowl and PAC) then the autiqualifier from that conference gets a birth in another NY6 non-playoff bowl. But no conference is guaranteed multiple berths.
