It's greed that prompted them to put BYU so far down...a major outlier in terms of ranking.
It's stupidity to do it so blatantly that it completely undermines their credibility. If they had put BYU at 11 or 12, it would not have created the firestorm that it has. Putting BYU so far down (while justifying keeping Cincy at 7 with the same qualifications as BYU) totally undermines any credibility that the CFP would have otherwise had.
