What’s an appropriate gift to give a little girl after killing her parakeet?
In my defense, I didn’t really kill it. Our neighbors asked me to check on their birds while they were on vacation, and I thought they just meant their chickens. I didn’t know there was a parakeet inside their home that I was supposed to check on.
At any rate, I feel horrible because the girl is sad and she must hate my guts right now.
The parents said not to replace the parakeet. So what’s a good gesture or gift I can give to a 13-year-old girl?
