Here's my problem with comparing teams as far back as 1984. Players were not as big and fast as they are now. Especially on the O and D lines. You can even see a difference from 84 to 96. This years team would probably do the same as the 84 team. Can you image how anyone could have blocked Khyiris Tonga in 84 weighing 260. Not going to happen!
Skill positions might be a little closer but it wouldn't have mattered with how dominate the lines would have been.
Better to compare 96 to 20 and IMO 20 is better all around.
