I'm going with 1983 - Steve Young's senior year.
Both teams (1983 & 1984) were roughly the same in talent & skill level with the difference being Steve Young as the better quarterback.
Sure, they didn't walk away with the National Championship, but that took the stars aligning just right and the Hammer of God for that to come together.
