the first one, I fell right in front of a big delivery truck that missed my head by maybe 18 inches. would've squashed it like a grape.

second one was funny in retrospect. I was on the FOB (forward operating base) carrying a Christmas package to the post office. There was a bunch of shooting going on outside the wall, but I thought it was the firing range because they'd sent out a message that day saying there was some training going on that day. In fact it was Al Qaida shooting it out with the Iraqi Police. I heard some weird pinging sound and realized it was rounds hitting off the big metal dumpster I was walking past and hitting into the dirt around me. They of course weren't shooting at me, it was just rounds at the perfect angle flying all the way into the FOB and just happening to hit right near me. Here's the mentality of dumb guys at war though, I didn't even run I just kind of thought Oh I guess I should walk the rest of the way to the post office through the building rather than outside. I did have my helmet and body armor on, but still looking back I should've been way more concerned. If the same thing had happened to me back home, it would've scared the literal crap out of me.
