BYU got shafted by an unranked Texas upsetting #3 Nebraska in the Big XII title
Giving the Big XII two alliance bids. Assuming Nebraska had won and stayed at #3, the alliance would be choosing between #6 BYU (13-1) and #8 Colorado (9-2). The BCA still might have gone with Penn State and CU as at larges over BYU, but with one less at large spot open, the BCA only had to explain taking #7 Penn State (9-2) over BYU.
