ranking, perception by the CFP committee, etc., but if the CC game happens, it really is part of a serendipitous convergence of events this year that nobody could have predicted after we were left with Houston and North Alabama from the original schedule. I mean:

1. Tom putting together a schedule of whoever was willing to play us, making us the only team playing in the west.

2. Zach looking like the second coming of Patrick Mahomes or Joe Burrow, after an injury-plagued and ultimately mediocre year last year. And the entire team putting on a very disciplined and excellent performance in pretty much every game, when that has plagued Kalani teams the last couple of years.

3. The sunbelt destroying the Big12's chances of making the CFP, in some ways forcing the committee's ranking CC 18th. (How else does ISU get where they're at after losing to a sunbelt team?!)

4. Becoming the media darling after the CFP committee's clearly biased rankings (which was not a given at the height of the UW debacle).

5. Potentially sneaking into Liberty's place in a College Gameday matchup against undefeated ranked teams. (I don't wish Covid on anyone, especially college kids, but I will say that if the reports that Liberty was/is unwilling to play us on December 19 are true, then I feel less bad for the university missing out on the opportunity, if that's what happens.)

If all ends well, this BYU season needs a documentary at some point, but not until after the PTSD from Covid wears off.
