14 hours on duty with 11 max driving. You have to take a 30 minute break before
you get 8 hours in your drive or you shorten your drive time.

Drove a couple High School Semi's from the DFW to the Rose Parade in 2019. Best thing ever to be behind the wheel of one of those. I have a kid in the band for 3 more years. Next year we are supposed to go to Indy for Nationals so that will be fun. Hopefully things open up more.

We used to go to all away games as they bands would travel and perform at all football games, unless it was in the playoffs at Jerry World. Then we went but didn't perform. We also go to local competitions and then San Antonio for State Finals every other year, and a regional competition called Bands Of America. That is the Indy trip next year, they try to go every 4 years.

I had always wanted to get my CDL and the band paid for renting truck, I just had to take the test and pass. Interesting fact is you have to parallel park the truck as part of your test. They measure your tractor and trailer and then give you an extra 15 feet. And I did it with a manual, as we prefer them over automatic. But you have to test in a manual and show you know how to double clutch. If you do it in the automatic that is all you are allowed to drive. Most trucks are moving to auto now, which isn't as fun.

I had a sleeper and our 48 foot trailer. Did it in one shot no problem. We also have a trailer that is 53 feet long, which is actually too long for a lot of states to register. In TX it is legal to register and because of that we can drive through those other states no problem.
