Teams with losses should be penalized, no matter when the loss occurred.
It’s the while season, not just the last three games when a 3-7 team catches fire.
I guess it would be less egregious if there were some clear way to rationalize “tough losses”.
But this situation does not pass the smell test in any way.

The CFP committee doesn’t penalize for crappy losses, if you are P5.
