Not actually a sailor. It is a freshman cap which was a thing way back when...

Was a standard logo motif for many schools. Cal, UCLA, and Baylor all used

It probably came in with the Nike remake of BYU colors and logos. Don't remember

it didn't come out then, but they did remake the Sailor Coug about 10 yrs ago, that's when it started being used again
