RE: Smaller, quicker guys can be much harder to block and deal with up front.
You actually made my same point. Yes, BYU will have to adjust to their smaller guys, and I am sure they are no slouches, but over the course of 4 quarters, speed and strength with adjustments will just be too much for them to overcome. BYU is more prepared for this type of opponent, due to the Covid scheduling shuffle that has forced them to play teams like Texas, Northern Alabama, ect. All of those teams were a lot smaller than BYU and had to rely on different techniques, chop blocks, gadget plays, and crazy O line lineups.

I believe it was either Texas State or UTSA that came out with those insane plays in the first quarter, where they had the center with huge gaps between the tackle and guards. It threw off the D for a series, but then BYU figured it out, especially after 1/2.
Tejan Koroma was the shortest center or o-lineman that I can remember playing at the Y. They always give the lineman an inch or two in the listings and he was usually listed at 6’0 and 300, but was also one of the strongest and most aggressive players that I have ever seen in Provo. So, I am not totally discounting this guy, but 5’9 and 280, if he was like Koroma, he would be talked about a lot more. Guys like Tonga, Dawe, El-Bakri ect, should have a big advantage and should make passing difficult for their qb, in addition to stopping the run. Tonga has humiliated every single lineman and center that he has gone up against.
Knowing this is on getting the National attention it is getting and being an East Coast game, I see the BYU coaches pulling the nice gloves off and being a lot more aggressive. With the 3 man rush, Tonga has bull rushed 2 and 3 guys at a time, into sacks or TFLs. What is it going to look like with a 4 man front being used more, putting pressure on their qb with a D line 3-4 inches taller and 20-40lbs heavier than most teams they have faced? Their QB is really good, but he is still an untested freshman, whose best battle (sizewise) was probably a bad Kansas team or Louisiana. I see their O line getting tired very quickly, due to BYU’s depth, speed, strength, and size, and the young QB making mistakes when he is pushed into speeding up his progressions and continually getting hit or rushed. It is no knock on this team. They deserve a lot the recognition they are getting and I have enjoyed watching them a couple times, but this it is just off matter of logic.
