Christensen will neutralize whichever one of them lines up against him. If Freeland (with an occasional assist from Hoge) can contain the other, it will neuter their defense. Their DBs have a ton of INTs, but watching a lot of their games yesterday, most of them come on underthrown balls. They don't play a lot of man coverage, and they've taken advantage of QB mistakes in the zone.
Zone coverage is effective against average QB play. CCU has capitalized in this way all year. Good QBs will beat the zone the majority of the time because there are holes and soft spots in every zone, essentially leaving receivers completely uncovered on parts of the field. BYU's zone tries to overcome this limitation by dropping more players into coverage and reducing the number of holes and uncovered parts of the field. CCU won't be able to get away with dropping 7 or 8 and rushing 3 or 4 all game versus our OL. Wilson will find the holes in their zone and pick them apart. Or we'll run the ball for 300 yards. Or both.
