They feel they can’t just have it the same as any other penalty or players will decide in a big moment or big game it’s worth the penalty to prevent an even bigger play or moment. So to remove the ejection all together won’t eliminate these like the league hopes for, but I think they can at least grade these differently so that targeting isn’t an auto ejection, but maybe depending on how severe or if helmet to helmet was involved then it’s more severe with ejection than if like tonight it’s just bad technique that led to targeting but the player doing the targeting was the one in danger of critical injury not the one he hit. It’s hard but I would think they could figure out a way to not auto eject on every one but only severe ones where both player safety is involved or some other system.
