I will say that if anyone besides Weber had been assigned to SoCal at the time, Torry might have had a much better chance at getting the offer he wanted, Tim was pretty frustrated at the time trying to make direct contact, and ended up going to the media because he couldn't get anyone on the staff to seriously look at Torry, who was a 3* with P12 offers as a WR/CB that got bumped off his Cal commitment a week before signing day, but Tim had been trying to get BYU to recruit Torry long before that.
At the time I recall thinking BYU coaches were crazy to not take him, turns out they were.
