My wife, who is half-Asian, asked about Zach Wilson
She has no interest at all in sports, but read the headline. I told her that his father is Hawaiian and looks part Poly. She laughed because he doesn't look anything but caucasian.

Then, we went on to talk about cultural heritage rather than race. Our kids, though they are only a 1/4 and barely look Asian at all, have native Japanese family names, know parts of the language, and experience every Japanese-American holiday or tradition that my wife experienced growing up. We then talked about how ridiculous and racist it would be to vote some just by race alone.

I sum this up that the Poly award should go to a player who has Poly ancestry and celebrates that culture in their home. I am guessing if his Dad raised him right, Zach grew up attending Polynesian cultural events in Utah, visited relatives in Hawaii and definitely absorbed that culture at BYU where about 30% of guys are at least part poly including a few of his playmakers on the current roster and in the past (Pau'u, Katoa, Hifo, MLP, etc...).
