Utah obviously tragically lost their starter in Ty Jordan, but also several transfers who had fallen behind him. They've got a good history at RB, but definitely a weak spot at the moment. No reason to not bring a bunch of options in and see who stands out. Maybe it's Pledger, maybe it's Curry, maybe it's Parks, maybe it's Bernard. Open competition helps you find the best person.

Meanwhile it makes a bunch of sense for Pledger or Curry to come to Utah. They might not win the job, but there's a great opportunity. Neither side has anything guaranteed, but it's upside for both sides.
