the first one is bound to be problematic. The biggest reason to wait is native software application support. If I have to wait until the 2nd gen comes out before all my software works natively with the gen1 anyway, I may as well save my money and get the upgraded hardware when the software actually works well. But additionally, they didn't bother to redesign the laptop itself. The touchbar is dumb and so is lack of magsafe. All of those add up to great reasons to wait for Gen2.
