The scene you mentioned with Needle in the Hay is one of the most haunting movie scenes ever and it's jarring
even when I know it's coming. I hate it an watch it every time. It could almost ruin the movie, so I get what you're saying.
Gene Hackman is so great in RT. And there are so many dry ironic funny parts that just crack me up.
It also has a sweet message about messed up families.
