Rule 10: Be precise in your speech.
I agree with a lot of what you are saying. I often find in my life, both at work and at home, that laziness in speech leads to confusion and mistakes.
I try to be precise in my speech most of the time, but understand the desire to get a little sloppy for convenience or to make a point.

It’s a pet peeve of mine when people start a sentence with “Dad was....”. It should say, “My dad was...”
