I was teaching there just recently. They should have sent an email on Saturday (oops) but he should definitely get one before Wednesday.
As for the schedule you outlined, it should look fairly similar to that. The schedule is pretty free-form so that companions can decide together on the best time to do comp/personal study. And online classes can be some combination of either morning (9 a.m.), afternoon (3 p.m.), or evening (6 p.m.) assuming he's joining the Provo MTC.
