He had remarkable longevity. He was one of the first I can remember hotly debated whether he belonged in the HOF. Got in barely on the fifth ballot. 20 seasons pitching 200+ innings. 16 straight seasons with at least ten wins. But only one 20+ win season, four All Star games, and no Cy Young. He was just really, really good for a really long time. He is top ten in a lot of major pitching categories. He never missed his turn in the rotation over 756 starts – the third-most all-time behind only Cy Young and Nolan Ryan. His 756 career starts again trail only Cy Young and Ryan
Died too young at just 75.
