Focusing on THIS season, defensively he's 2nd among the wings in Defensive Efficiency Rating. He's also 2nd among the wings in Defensive Win Shares and 1st among the wings in Defensive Box Plus/Minus (and he's 3rd on the team overall behind Haarms and Barcello). His overall Box plus/minus has him 5th on the team trailing AB, Haarms, Harward and Harding.

Offensively he hasn't been great but then none of our wings have been lighting it on fire. Pope is probably thinking that he needs to find a new spark on the wing and he's tried Harding, he's tried Spencer Johnson and they both have struggled to be consistent. Giving Knell a shot makes sense. He did have two big drives in the 2nd half when BYU was trying to pull ahead of SMC that gave BYU the lead at a time when we were getting stops on D but struggling to get points. Sometimes all a player needs to get going is the trust of his coach and a consistent spot in the rotation. Think back several seasons to a time when the Cougars were struggling and looking for a lift and Coach Rose turned to a JC transfer sitting ignored at the end of his bench. Skyler Halford became an important spark on both ends of the floor in the rotation as 6th man.
