I'm on board re: the level of competition, but record keeping is valid concern.

A lot of those Negro League guys were definitely as good or better than any of the MLB guys, and the only reason they weren't allowed to play in the MLB was their skin color. There's no way of saying for sure, but I'd guess that pre-Jackie Robinson many of the mid-to-bottom tier MLB players were no better than most of the guys in the Negro League.
