Of the 32,000 people who got the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine in trials, only ONE developed a serious case of covid. So it is 95% effective at preventing disease but essentially 100% effective at preventing serious disease. The risk of serious disease or death in a healthy 30-something year old is admittedly low (close to 3% hospitalization rate and 0.2% death), that is still exponentially higher compared to ALL risk groups who got the vaccine.
I'm always surprised at how poor people are at risk assessment when making medical decisions. Odds are that most people who don't get the vaccine will be just fine. But this vaccine is a freaking miracle.
