My wife and I made a DI donation run many years ago. Her sister had made some
Bird nest/house out of a large brick for a house decoration. She'd made it at homemaking and gave it to us a few years earlier.

It was home made, it was dated, it was cheesy to begin with and now it was falling apart.

I wanted to throw it away. My wife insisted someone would want it and we should take it to DI. Her sister gave it to her. She felt bad throwing it away. We went back and forth but I finally agreed to put it in the DI pile.

We get to DI and the guy starts unloading and sorting things.

Right in front of my wife, I hand him the bird nest brick thing. He looks at it for a second or two and then turns and just hurls this thing as far as he could at a dumpster some 20 feet away.

I heard my wife literally gasp as I saw the roof and nest tearing off the brick as it soared through the air and came crashing to the ground a few feet in front of the dumpster.

The memory still brings a smile to my face.
