Will LeBron beating Kareem's points record be last time a major record falls?
I was curious how close LeBron was to Malone and Abdul-Jabbar, and think he's going to probably make it to the top. After that, the next active player in line is Carmelo at #14, and no other active player is in the top 25. The way the game is now, what kind of longevity one needs, and the guys one would have to pass to get to the top, and who is in the league at the moment, it's pretty clear the record won't be beaten any time soon if LeBron doesn't do it.

Out of curiosity, I looked at the other major records. We all know Stockton's record looks untouchable, but steals, blocks, and rebounds all look way out of reach, too. Taking rebounds, Wilt has almost 24,000, and the only active player in the top 25, Dwight Howard, only has about 14,000. It's hard to see how anyone ever threatens this record. Howard is also the only active player in the top 25 in blocks, but he's way behind here, too.

Is there any tough, durable young player in the league right now that has a theoretical chance to reach the top in one of the major categories in another ten or fifteen years?
