The only matter of import was that the council decided to postpone a vote, until next year, on NIL legislation and immediate eligibility transfer rule.
The NIL decision was made because the Supreme Court decide to hear the NCAA’s appeal of athlete compensation decision, from lower courts. The Court’s decision is expected in December. The NCAA NIL legislation will be crafted to accommodate that decision.
The legislation to grant a one-time transfer with immediate eligibility was postponed, the Council reasoned, because schools have enough distractions coping with the financial consequences of the pandemic that they didn’t need to cope with a major change in the transfer rule.
