What made Zach so much better?
I was reading the article on ESPN where McShay and Kiper are quoted on why Wilson could be taken as the second QB overall in the draft and I really wondered what the real difference was between what Zach did versus Mangum, Hill, and the others who played QB since Max Hall.

The one thing that really seemed obvious was offseason development. Zach got better every year and after the injuries that derailed his sophomore season he only worked harder. There is a focus that Zach seems to have that is special, but I also think that he and his family understood what it took to develop as a QB and not just a football player. Taysom is one of the most physically gifted athletes to ever wear BYU colors, but looking back I wonder if his offseason focus actually hurt instead of helped because his progress as a passer wasn't incredible.

Now, I think that whichever QB gets the nod next season will look as good as the offensive line that BYU puts on the field. I don't think that Taysom, Tanner or pretty much any of the QBs since Max have played behind a line on the same level as this season and I think that cannot be undervalued. Zach's incredible season was really showcased by and OLine that was pretty darn good and skill position players who were also at a high level for BYU. Milne, Romney, Rex and especially Algeier gave Zach tools to excel.

What else am I missing that made Zach special and a first day pick? And, if it's all about development with the likes of John Beck, how does BYU replicate that?
