The last song recorded of a now extinct bird
Native to the Hawaiian Island of Kauai, the Kauaʻi ʻōʻō went extinct in 1987. This is a recording of a mating call of the last known male, no females would ever hear his song

How certain are we that it’s extinct? Have they checked everywhere?

It's possible but it's not a very large island and it's mating call is pretty

Species thought extinct sometimes do pop up, but it is rare. It's also more unlikely when geographic range is small
