I find that some people get hooked on gold panning immediately, while others don’t have the patience for it. I would definitely recommend giving it a try. It’s not an expensive hobby to get into.

Edit: It’s not always suitable for young kids due to the fact that most placer mining happens on or near swift rivers and creeks. Be very careful.
