Places with granitic bedrock or outcroppings with large crystals produce the coarsest gold. This is why places like the Sierra Nevada mountains in California are so productive.

There are mountain ranges throughout the west that produce gold, including several places here in Utah. Even a few places in the Wasatch. BM me if you want specific spots.
