The Big 12 presidents basically auditioned every top Group of 5 program out there in 2016 and ultimately decided none of them added said value.
Of course BYU adds value, but there was no second team adding enough value to justify expansion.
And the P12 complaint about BYU is needlessly focused on BYU — it applies to every potentially P12 candidate. Boise isn't a research school. Nor SDSU. Etc.
Cincinnati is solid under Fickell, but plays a very small second fiddle in its own state. Its at least sort of near WVU, but is also massively, massively overspending. Lose Fickell — which is inevitable — and the whole house of cards could come falling down. It has little systemic advantage — small fan base, small history, etc. Good bball though.
If they take two, it should be BYU and UCF IMO.
