Some of you may remember the big massive storm that hit in January 1993. Started on like Thursday and ended on Tuesday. people were stuck at Sundance all weekend. A couple of guys used their cross country skis to ski out and said it was the scariest thing they had done. Well Wed. morning they opened the canyon, I was not in school waiting to go on the mission so I went skiing. Possibly the greatest day ever. Chest deep powder. looking a run with a ski patrol deciding if it should be "open" He shrugged and we went for it. You could hear the whooping all the way down from both of us.
I got done about 1 and headed to the Suburban to head home. Coming down the North Fork road a big slide came down and surrounded the car. Luckily I had already locked the hubs (older suburban), I put it in 4 low and was able to get out. when I got to the bottom Highway Patrol was there with the road closed.
I wasn't worried about getting hurt but seeing a wall of snow coming down the mountain at you even in that big of a car is freaky.
